Here we list the most frequently asked questions about our ambitrim® Digital RGB LED ambient lighting. If you still have questions after reading this, please don't hesitate to contact us:
1. Do I need to run cables from the individual modules to a central unit?
No, due to the division into parent and multiple child modules, the child modules only respond when the parent module is powered. Until then, the child modules remain in sleep mode and consume very little power (measured on the laboratory power supply, less than 0.00A).
2. Can I shorten the light strip?
Yes, this is easily possible. You don't have to worry about where you cut it.
3. Do I have to connect all light strips and light sources?
No, each light strip and light source has a connector that you plug into the respective control module. If you don't plug it into the module, it simply won't light up.
4. Where do I get the power for the modules/what do I connect them to?
Due to the division into parent and child modules, it is possible to simply connect the child modules to the permanent power supply. For example, in the doors, this is usually the supply line to the door control unit. You connect the parent module to the cigarette lighter fuse using the included fuse adapter. You then connect the ground cable of our parent module to the ground of your car (usually simply connect it to the frame using a screw).
5. Can I also set the light strips to a single color without gradients?
Yes, that's called static colors, and you can simply select them using a color wheel in the app.
6. Can I set the colors of the light strips and light sources differently?
No, that's not possible. All light strips and light sources have the same color and brightness. There is no zone control.
7. Can I bend the light strips?
Yes, that's possible. However, this variant can be bent less strongly compared to the older ambitrim light guide technology, as there are boards inside the light strip.
8. Can I dim the brightness?
Yes, you can do this through the app.
9. Where can I find the control app for Android or Apple?
You can find the links to the apps here.
10. What does "digital RGB LED" mean?
Simply put: This allows for color gradients within a light strip. Sometimes also known as running light or rainbow effect.
11. Is it possible to add additional child modules?
Yes, that's possible. We also offer individual sets for purchase.
12. Can the welcome program be turned off at the beginning?
Well, you have the choice when you purchase. Simply select with or without welcome program :)
13. Is the white a true white or often bluish as usual?
You can set a pure white with the system.
14. Is the ambitrim® Digital RGB LED ambient lighting bright enough to see during the day?
Yes! We personally drive with around 1-10% brightness at night, as otherwise it would be too bright for us personally.
15. Does the system save the last setting when I turn off the car/the power?
Yes, the system starts again in the mode you last set after the welcome program has finished when you turn it back on.
16. The door light strips (child modules) are flickering after installation – what could be the reason?
In some cases, the settings between the parent and child modules need to be synchronized after installation (e.g. pixel count and PIN order).
This can be done quickly in the app:
-
Pixel count: Temporarily set it to e.g. 1000 pixels and confirm, then set it back to the correct value (e.g. 100) and confirm.
-
PIN order: Select a different option, confirm it, then switch back to GRB and confirm.
After that, all modules are synchronized and the flickering should stop.
