This installation idea is meant as a guide and may be used at your own risk:
0. Take power directly from the fuse box using the included adapter, e.g. the cigarette lighter fuse. Then it only switches on when you turn on the ignition. Test this first. If everything works, carry on.
PS: Our fuse adapter turns one fuse slot into 2, and both resulting circuits are fused separately.
1. Remove the headliner.
2. Find a good spot for the light unit and check from there whether the light guides are long enough.
3. Neatly mark points on the headliner with a pen where the holes will go (even or varied spacing). We'd make sure that no area of the headliner has noticeably more light guides than others.
4. Once everything fits and you've decided whether you want only twinkling stars, only shooting stars or both (you decide this through the arrangement of the additional 10x fibre bundles on one side of the light unit), start drilling. The thickest light guide is 1.5mm in diameter. Use this to choose the drill size (2mm).
5. Once all holes are drilled, push the light fibres through the holes far enough that on the back the length reaches the light unit perfectly.
6. Then test everything, especially whether you like the placement and effects. Otherwise you could still swap the light fibres now (change their position in the holes).
7. Everything right?! Great. Then fix the light fibres in the holes on the back (e.g. with hot glue from behind).
Bundle all the loose light fibres on the back and tape them to the headliner, e.g. with adhesive tape, so there are fewer problems during installation and they don't get caught anywhere.
Caution: If you use hot glue, don't let it get too hot, otherwise the light fibres will melt. That's basically not a problem and even lets you bend them slightly around the curve so they lie flat. But if you pull on them while they're still hot, you can of course tear them.
8. Once everything is secure and tidy, reinstall the headliner.
9. Cut off protruding light fibres on the front of the headliner so that nothing sticks out.
10. Install the app (or you already have it for our ambitrim ambient lighting), or control it via the remote.
11. Enjoy!
PS: With our system you can create both twinkling stars and shooting stars.
You decide what it becomes through the arrangement of the light fibres. The additional 10x fibre bundles on one side of the light unit are driven in sequence and lit up. This means that if you lay fibres from bundles 1-10 one after the other, you get a shooting star. If you want twinkling stars instead, spread the fibres of the bundles randomly and you get twinkling stars. Of course you can also combine both and use only individual fibres of the bundles for certain things, or e.g. use only bundles 1-5 for shooting stars and 6-10 for twinkling stars. This way our system offers you maximum individuality, exactly the way we like it :)
